
UConn Health Center Student Computer ProgramThe Notebook Computer & PDA Ownership RequirementThe UConn Health Center's Computer Education Center (CEC) has once again chosen the UConn Co-op as it's vendor to supply UConn Health Center students with the notebook computer required for use in their programs. Incoming students of both the School of Medicine and the School of Dental Medicine will receive the required notebook computer, a Lenovo Thinkpad T61. This computer will be billed to your tuition as required "equipment". Your payment of your tuition, will qualify you to receive the computer. Students entering their third year in the School of Medicine are required to purchase a handheld PDA for use in their coursework. This year's recommended computer is the Lenovo Thinkpad T61, known for its design, ruggedness and superior reliability. The model detailed below has been customized to fit the needs of your program. *The UConn Health Center does not currently support Microsoft's newest operating system, Vista. These packages have known compatibility issues with some applications currently used in the School of Medicine and School of Dental Medicine. Vista is also not compatible with the UConn Health Center's wireless network. It was therefore decided to utilize the previous release - Windows XP Pro.

Availability:The UConn Co-op will work with the Computer Education Center to develop a schedule for deployment of these computers. Students will be allowed to pick up their computers at their Orientation Day at the UConn Health Center prior to the start of their programs.
